(Q) Disable charging on OTG

Is there a way to disable charging while using OTG. As we all know, nexus 4 uses the y cable. So when I'm using otg, it also charges my phone.

Will it damage my battery if i watch movies directly from my flash drive and will it damage my battery if I use OTG often.
