CM 13 - annoying google search bar and some other google crap on the screen next

I have installed CM 13 and then GAPPS "stock". My home screen is now contaminated with the Google search bar which I cannot remove. In addition the screen to the left is filled with some other Google crap I do not care about but cannot remove. Is there a way to do it, or must I remove GAPPS ?
