Camera doesnt work

Hi, I changed LCD on my S4 mini, but when I want connect camera, but I pull out the black thing, which hold camera inside conector....its neceseary the "black thing" for the camera working or when I used double side tape and put camera into connector and use tape? I cant put it back the " black thing" when I try to put it back, I break it.... :(
