I have been following the progress of the archos diamond plus 2 and was eagerly waiting for it to begin selling in march as archos originally promised at a price of £199.
March came and went and archos blamed manufacturing issues then promised myself in an email that the handset would be selling in may and guess what it gets held back again with a further promise to be on sale june then july and finally in my last email to archos the handset was promised to be sold on later part of august and they also posted that pre-orders were being taken during this period but guess what its being held back again till after september or later..
This handset is a very powerful piece of technology but the gap that archos had between them and thier nearest rivals spec and price is now nothing but a blur and by the time archos gets round to eventually selling them they will not be worth £199 and other manufacurers would have surpassed it bang for buck .
This is a pity and it is all archos fault they could have released them in smaller batches and spent more time offering handsets to users to show on forums youtube and xda etc to help draw attention to this powerhouse mobile.
I offered to buy one full price and promised to do a promotional demo video but they also backed down on that too.
If archos want to play with the big boys on the mobile market they cant keep holding on to thier toys it isnt doing thier company any favours as this handset is thier official flagship and could boost the companys status skywards this handset should have already been released months ago its thier loss when most of thier stock goes unsold because we all went for other brands :(
